Welcome to Wild Hills Way Farm
Veteran Fighting Food Disparity and Insecurity in Arizona
Wild Hills Way Farm is a small-scale farm and homestead established in Hereford, Arizona. Our mission at Wild Hills Way Farm is to address food insecurity and disparity in Southeastern Arizona through food freedom, health education, and a sustainable food system practice amidst global and domestic health crises and economic and food uncertainty in underserved and underrepresented communities.
From the Battlefield to Breaking Ground
Answering the Call After Service
Ellie is a native Texan, an Army OIF Veteran, and the granddaughter of chicken farmers and homesteaders. Her grandparents raised chickens on their homesteads in West and North Central Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Kansas. Ellie saw the need for a local, sustainable food system to address the shortages created by the COVID-19 pandemic and the global food supply chain disruption. Ellie stepped away from city life to live a life that is more self-sufficient/self-sustaining while providing needed goods and services to her community with reverence to nature. Using her expertise in Public Health, Holistic Nutrition, and Integrative Medicine, she has the desire to educate her community about holistic wellness and nutrition through an integrative approach.
Our Practices
We believe in growing our fruits, vegetables, flowers, and raising our animals as close to natural as possible. We prefer to grow heirloom and organic varieties using OMRI listed products.
Future Projects
Wild Hills Way Farm is seeking to expand educational services and hands-on learning to Veterans who are interested in getting started with Agripreneurship and Homesteading. More boots on the ground will assist with our mission to address food insecurity and disparity in our communities.
